The quality of life is excellent. People in New Zealand take great pride in preserving their environment. Big parts of the country are thus still of breathtaking natural beauty. The cost of living is much lower than ie. Europe and in most parts of the United States.
New Zealand has been ranked 8th in The Internationaiving 2008 world-wide quality-of-life index. In addition, the 2008 Mercer Quality of Living Survey ranked Auckland on its 5th place and Wellington on the 12th place in the world.

- Local calls are free, calls to Europe cost about 4c per minute.
- Medical care is completely free for kids up to 5 years. It’s also free for anyone involved in an accident led by an accident. Even tourists enjoy free medical services. The health system is modern and excellent.
- Air- travel from and to New Zealand is constantly getting cheaper. A round trip in Economy class to Europe costs between 1200 to 1400 euros, depending on the season. A round trip to California is about NZ $ 1700.
- New Zealand could be an interesting alternative for retired baby-boomers, who want to spend their winters in warmer destinations. Considering the house prices, the free medical care and the low cost of living, New Zealand might soon become the new “Florida”.
